The Hunt [For the Family of Fred Bellmire]

I’m going on a long hunt, he told her
and you won’t be able to go.
I’m going on a long hunt this time
and right now I’m just preparing slow.
I can’t take too much with me,
Just the experience from my past.
I’ll take all of my fond memories too!
I’m not sure how long this hunt will last.
I won’t need a jacket, a gun, or a dog.
I hear that’s all provided.
I’m a little nervous about the hunt,
But I’m also kind of excited!
I know that you will worry
and miss me terribly
I probably won’t be able to check in,
But you’ll know exactly where I’ll be.
I wonder what the fields are like there…
are they open or thick with trees?
Will the deer and elk be hard to find
Or as far as the eye can see.
Are the bison as large as I’ve seen ‘em
and the wild pigs just as mean?
Are the mountain lions easy to track?
Or are they somehow unusually keen?
It’s going to be an incredible journey,
And soon I’ll be ready to go.
I will miss you all so much down here,
But will be reunited with old friends and family, you know.
Please don’t be sad while I am gone,
Just remember where I’m at
I will be hunting and fishing with God above
And you know how much I’ll love that!
So celebrate my life by just remembering one thing
I lived my life to it’s fullest by chasing every dream.
I thank God every day to have had the opportunity
To share my life with all of you,
my friends and family.

To my old friend Fred. I love you my brother. Looking forward to the day I can see you again. We still have mountains to climb. Billy Simmons
